Having trouble bleeding air from D2 4U

there is a special tool for doing those bleeders it has the perfect slotted ends to fit the bleeders with a 45degree bend in the middle. I have one and was told by someone else when he saw it,they are about as rare as rockin horse (Road Apples - text edited by Admin) and never lone it to anyone. yes the slots look like 1/4inch so a special modded 1/4 open-ender could work well.

All - I interpreted what Eddie said was that #4, which was causing the least amount of air escape, is usually the problem I went out this evening and got video of what the lines at the injectors looked like. The first is cylinder 1 and the last is cylinder 4. Each is opened 1.5 to 2 turns.

bad flares can also cause leaks if you go to your local hydraulics shop they should be able to bend you up a new set of lines out of steel brake line if you have the correct tools to do the bends and flares its not hard to do either. most of these type of lines have ball type or double flares.

Hi Team,
I believe now we can purchase a Shock Absorber Double Dee socket that the slot in it fits the bleeder screw shape--similar end as some shock absorber mount shafts.
Shown is a short version but I saw a long series version socket for sale in the local Dealer Parts Dept display one time I was there.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

That socket would sure beat the heck out of the original wrench. Just checked NAPA Part #: BK 7769240 $2.49.

I have a couple of those sockets. They're not bad because if used with wobble extensions, the bleeders are fairly easy to access

I made one out of necessity using 3/8" rod and beating the ends with a sledge hammer. Drilled a 1/4" hole then elongated it with a dremel tool. Not pretty but it did the trick. I've since got the socket from Cat.

On our old D6 on the farm when I was a kid, I made one up out of the bail handle of a milk bucket. Squeeze the loop end in a vise until it fits the flats. I used it for years as it was strong enough not to open up again when opening the injector vents. The socket does look stronger though.

I cant see how a socket will work on the bleeders in a 4U. The lower bolt for the port for the inlet manifold is just above #1 bleeder,.

I either used a 1/4 wrench on that one, or removed the bolt. Can't remember
