Cat offered the oil clutch option on D4 tractors 7U29734-up

The way you say option, the dry was standard? You had to order it with oil if you wanted it?  Or like D6 of the time they all came with the oil clutch as the standard?

Hi All,This tractor was originally an oil clutch an at some stage it was converted to a dry clutch, so I am putting it back to standard I have managed to get all the bit together except for the pickup, so I made one very close to it.Regards

I believe it was how ever the tractor was ordered, from what I understand is the farm Cats were ordered with dry clutches and dozer tractors were ordered with oil clutches.

you could use a oil such as caltex textrans tdh which is made for the trans, hydraulics, differentials of tractors and cane harvesters. it is what i use in the trans and hydraulics of my d4.

it has cat to4 approval. the finals use torque-fluid 454 or 434 depending on environmental temp range.(the names have changed and are now part of the delo range of products) both have cat to4 approval.
