I did alot of internet searches for D2 parts and found many chinese manufacturers proclaiming they make the parts now. Didn't make me very comfortable, so although I need some, I have never ordered. I probably shouldn't worry as 90% of wally mart and Target stuff come from there and many former US manufacturers are now producing parts over "there"

I guess I'm a dying breed but I still like to see a red/white/blue flag sticker on whatever I buy. It's getting tougher every day.

Actually, I would consider a set of China rails.

My machine is mostly a toy and the rails would probably last a lifetime.

The hole pattern & hole side was a match for the D2 pads.

Bill, can you get some literature on those Chinese made rails? If you can, perhaps you can post it on the board so all us D2 owners can read up and maybe be sold on buying them. Thanks Joe Giraud

Dozerman51,
Sorry, no information was available except the dimensional information the guy gave me over the phone – it was a match for a D2.

I have a set of cat chains that are off a D25U that are in great shape. Pins and bushings look fine. If I get chance this weekend I will lay out to measure the wear. They look like they are 70% or better. Also they have 12" grousers which are great. Again I will measure these also for height of grouser. Both chains have new master pins. Also have the sprockets that go with the chains. I'm located in upstate NY

Measured the chains and 5 pins center to center is 24 5/8" or 24.625 so they are worn about 25%. The grousers are anywhere from 1 3/8 " to 1 1/2".

I am interested in the chains if no one else has spoken for them. I have 16" pads. Will they bolt up on these chains? What are you asking for them?

About ten years ago I was designing construction equipment (Slipform pavers). The supplier we used for D4 equivalent parts also supplied aftermarket replacement parts. The company was InterTractor. www.intertractoramerica.com The B series component listed in most of windows are for excavator service. There also was a Doser series of components but outside of looking at it for filing. I did not pay much attention, but I remember it existed.

I have no idea if they can supply D2 parts, but if one were serious about replacement rail assemblies; I would drop them an e-mail. They were easy to work with on the custom parts I needed. At the time I only owned a TEN and they had no equivalent for that.

As for thinking about foreign (non U.S.) sources of parts, unless some radical change has occurred I missed, the D3 CAT is built by Mitsubishi in Japan. The undercarriage components are built in Europe; the rollers in Italy, the rails and grousers in Germany. At the time word was that ALL bottom rollers came out of the same plant in Italy.

Bill

I got a price from Berco in Maine for a set of chains and pads for a D3 which will fit on my D2. The price was $1300 per side for 31 links.
