Seen at a show here in the UK recently, a pair of model 60s, one left hand, the other right hand drive!
 
As you will no doubt see, the right hand drive one (above) is an early LPG conversion.

Rubbish, in the USA you drive on the right hand side of the road and pass on the left. In the UK its opposite .
So one is for the USA and the other for UK roads. LOL have a good day, greetings from dark South Africa.

You seem a little 'definite' about your statement. What grounds do you have for telling Wombat that his reason was, quote, "RUBBISH"??????????????

'Coz I'm gonna come down on Wombat's side - with a slight variation. Since I was not alive back then, I don't have any memories of the whys and wherefores of it but I would suggest that either right of left hand seat could be used quite happily for most industrial work but the right hand seating would suit agriculture way more.

And I SERIOUSLY doubt that it had anything to do with who drove on which side of the road.

Went I got mine it was a left-hand drive. When it leaves the shop it will be a right hand as it will be played with more on the farm than any industrial work. It takes very few parts and time to change them from one side to the other.

Hi, naylorbros.
It was my understanding that they could be ordered with either arrangement depending on the customer's wishes and needs.

Hope you get to enjoy the fruits of your labors for many years. They yain't cheap to run these days but they sure are fun - takes you right back to serious seat-of-the-pants stuff. Back in the day, if you were sitting atop one of them, you were king of all you surveyed.

Concerning right or left hand drive, I will take left hand for farm work any day! Most skinners always set on the left a little crossways so they can watch their implement they are pulling, with a bench is so nice! I never have got used too the narrow centered seats on D5s and D6CS

Hi, 17AFarmer.
Apparently, others had different opinions from yours and were prepared to put their money where their mouth was. These photos are from Ad Gevers, aka Quad D9. Both are of the same tractor, the second one being at a later stage of its development - note the raised stacks, including the clutch and brake breather air intake.

The right hand drive was for ploughing (ag work) so that the operator had clear vision of the furrow he was following, unlike wheel tractors where the front wheel ran as a guide in the furrow, for mouldboard ploughing with a crawler it was critical for good ploughing to steer precisely with the track exactly at the right spacing.

Industrial tractors just followed the road rules in the US and hence the operator sat on the left.

I never drove a 60 or a D9 but I can tell you anybody that ever ran a 9U 3t 17a does it from the left I have done a lot of it your vision is great for plowing I have done a lot of it
