After a few starts on the donkey engine on my 933,the rotor keeps getting a carbon deposit around the contact surface,it runs great after a clean up but gets black after a few starts.I have tried most things to clean it up,petrol, eloctronic cleaner.Any ideas? Its a pain in the ar** as you have got to remove the fuel filter to get the cap off. Thanks

Martin,

It sounds as if your rotor has gotten rough and is abrasive enough to eat the carbon brushes too rapidly. I expect the thing gets out of it's depth trying to fire both plugs or perhaps there is another path to ground that the track of carbon connects to.

I think replace the rotor, but replacing the brushes may fix it and be cheaper.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

Hello ccjersey, the rotor is smooth with no ridges. The only thing it could be is the brush has gone soft, but when cleaned it seems ok.
Any one in the UK got a replacement brush or know where to get one? Thanks
