The weather has been great the last few days, so I thought I would finally put some things away. 2 of those things were the 933, and the D2 that needs the motor rebuilt. Both have spent the last year under tarps outside because my shop was still under construction. I picked up a couple of yards of fill sand a few weeks ago, so I was able to build up the rear door approach into the shop. This allows me to now drive (or drag) a machine into the shop without too much drama. I knew the D2 without the motor would still be heavy, but thought the 933 just might be able to hoist it clear so I could set it inside the door of the shop without trying to break over the (still) considerable threshold onto the concrete floor. I was able to actually lift the tracks clear, but once I began working my way towards the rear door, the balance point shifted and the geometry was such that I tipped forward and was unable to hoist the D2 any higher. *Plan "B"* I had to unhook and decided the just bull the D2 around with the 933. It worked, other than grinding the newly graded fill sand all out of the rear door approach. Here are the pictures of the excitement. The good thing is, that at the end of the day, everyone has a roof overhead for the first time in a while.

Hi Bruce-That 933 sure looks like a sweet set up. It sure looks well cared for. It will undoubtedly stay that way with its new home.

I am curious about how you hooked on to the D2-I would have thought the dozer frame would not have been able to handle the weight.

Thanks for the pics.

Hi Bernie. I know it looks like I am hooked to the frame, but those are the chains holding the blade from dropping. The chains I used to hoist the machine were 1/2" wrapped through the sprocket and the idler.

Bruce, if you would have traveled foward instead of backing up it would have worked.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
