I have a chance at a complete hard nose with radiator, pump, controls, and cylinders for changing my D8 14a from cable to hydralic. It is about 800 miles away, so the shipping adds up. what should this weigh? I have a 1 ton pickup, but has single rear wheels, and might be too much load to put in the box. I have put about 4000 lb of scrap in it before, carried it well, but only went 50 miles to the scrap yard. It probably would be cheaper to pay the truck shipping rather than pulling a trailler down and back with the old gas hog. So what are your guesses at the weight of a couplete hard nose with cylinders?

I don't have my book on hand but this is a total guess. Maybe 21/2 ton- 31/2 ton just a guess

5,000 to 6,000 lbs is probably a pretty good guess. I don't have anything in my literature that gives those weights.

Hi, D6Joe.
I live DowNunder and have no idea of the possible rail connections that might be available for you but, if it can be arranged, rail transport may be a cheaper option. Just a thought.

I think that would be a good conversion to be able to do. Cable controls in good condition are great to work with but usually require more maintenance to keep them working well.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

we has an old (87) Chevy 1ton service body pickup w/Dulies in the back and we hauled a cat d4400 engine from Petaluma,ca. to soledad,ca. , and we've pulled 6tons up a 30% grade w/same truck. so if i were you i wouldn't worry
about trailering the thing. happy Easter people!!!😄

Hi, Chriscokid.
From what D6Joe said in his original post, I gather that what he is looking at transporting is the hardnose, rams and hydraulics for a D8 14A to convert his cable machine to hydraulics. Engine not included. Would you happen to have the weights for those items, please?

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

shipping by rail would be much more expensive unless it was a full car load. And the railroad around here is basically unit trains for coal and grain.
