Warren I only have a metric adjustable spanner and a big hammer to fill my tool-box????,

We only have imperial adjustable wrenches here, I would love to get my hands on a metric:D

Big hammers we have a plenty;)

I did without a crane for many years myself, I often sit back wonder how I managed for so long with out one. But at 42 my back is no longer able to preform the duties of a hoist. So I bought a crane body for my truck. My come along does not get used all that much any more for hoisting duties.

And yes I have all those nice hydraulic tools that make life oh so nice. Now if we could just figure away to dry up mud quickly we would be all set & comfortable:D

A thought on stick welding. I have all that cool wire welding stuff as well. Probably about 75% of all my welding is with the tried & true stick. Easy to set up, gets the job done nicely and pick up at the end of the day is a breeze

Hi. TC.
Great stuff. Thanks for sharing and happy spannering. Try not to use the gas-axe too much. I know a bloke who used his gas-axe on the track shoe bolts of his Massey-Ferguson track loader 'cos they were too hard to get undone and he thought they would be cheap as......... Then he had to buy all new ones for it - - - at $8.00 each x 4 x 36 x 2 = (I think.) $2,304. Expensive gas-axing.

That 'Oyklid' TC12 in the background appears to be fitted with a coal blade.
For those who are un-initiated, the TC12 was around 440 hp and - I theenk - about 50 tons so it was a fair bit bigger than that ol' RD8. But then it was released about 18 years later too.

Here are a couple more TC 12's.

You all have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Replied by tctractors on topic Spanners and stuff.
Warren the reason we dont have Imperial adjustable spanners in the Uk anymore is down to the Common market lark also called the Euro Con, we have managed to keep the Pound £ in the UK ,but its sharp being stolen by all the "Euro Workers " that are clambering onto our shores by the Truck load Via Dover port, then sending all sorts of Sheckles home to there loved ones, soon there wont be any more pounds left , The Co I was working for today bought 200000 US$ as they looked cheep (Read this as good value, none Euro stuff) when has 200000$ been cheep???? Beats me,
as I am now on the edge of 51years old I have yet to get past the age of 6 in the head as I love to play about in the pudding, the muddier I manage to get the better I love it, A few months ago I had to work in a Truck breakers yard near Wolverhampton , it was HELL the floor was 1" deep in oil crap and broken glass, I kissed the gate as I left that job ,give me dirt anytime.
6yrs old in the mind and heart

tc - your "Euro workers" sound a lot like the illegal aliens we have here in the U.S. Powerful Western nations, built upon Judeo-Christian value system (beliefs), are quickly going downhill, due to a number of things, including immigration. How sad, and apparently irreversible, since policians seem to be immune to the protests of honorable and decent citizens.

As for purchasing the American dollar, it is losing value as against the Euro. The only reason to speculate in the dollar is if the purchaser has faith that the dollar will gain value as against the Euro, or other currency. Or the Euro will go down in value in comparison to the dollar. The dollar is "fiat" money - it has nothing backing it. It used to have gold or silver backing it, but you can't take the dollar to the government and demand silver or gold in exchange. So it is only as valuable as people think it is. I've been slowly accumulating gold as a hedge against "inflation", which term really means a decline in the purchasing power (value) of the paper dollar. This "inflation" I think will win out because our government has the dollar printing presses going full blast, to prop up our economy. It is all fake.

Just my two cents. Anyone (and everyone) is welcome to disagree.

It was some fare old fiddle to get on this new Board ,In the end I gave the mail man a Dozen hens eggs to do it for me , so I was wondering what took you Martyn and Neil so long to show up in print,
I went to the funeral of Ray Jackson , the lovely old Village Church was packed full ,there was plenty of chapter 2 members in the crowd, also stacks of faces from the past, it was a well set service that had you laughing and shedding a tear, the day went off well.
