OT Question about big trucks

More

I've just added a new toy to the ...umm... collection, an IH R190 series dump truck. This was a state truck, well maintained with lots of unique features.

My question is; I need to track down some body parts cancer repair. What are the resources available? Also what magazines are out there for resources?

Please forgive me, I know its not Cat but this bb is the most helpful.

Thanks in advance

Check out binderbulletin.org. Many of the guys are Scout guys but there are a lot of old truck guys too.

Sometimes you can use the regular IH pickup truck parts. IH tended to use what they had already (I think the doors and some exterior sheetmetal are similar if not identical). Sometimes the roofs and floors can vary. Good thing though, much of the metal is flat with simple bends (floors, etc).

Forcus, thanks for the response. The IH R-190 series is a large 'semi style' interstate truck. A lot of trucking companies used these trucks along with state DOT because they were inexpensive. Mine is a dump bed but I think Diamond Rio used the same cab, I think it was made by Henderson Cab company, I think. The pickups and scouts don't interchange with this size truck.

BTW, the national show for the ATHS is this week and Saturday at Colorado Springs. I know Orrin is going, and so is Larry Maasdam. Maybe a few others. Hope to see you all there! GWH

RD450 engine? does yours have water injection? I heard that some had it.

We had one with an old fertilizer spreader on it, way back when. Being a spreader, you know what the body looked like. Still a cool old truck!

We still have a U450 running on propane with a clutch and PTO on it. No mufflers, just straight pipes. that's music for a minute, and then it's noise, good noise though.

D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

Try RedPower.com or whatever the IH page / BB is. Alot of the guys at work are "RED" fanatics and the magazine always has lots of parts and stuff ADS in it.
