D311 genset was created by jtboyt
Looks like we are going to dismantle our 30 KW D311 genset (SN: 51B5484) after at least 60 years of good service aboard 80' motor yacht. Time to change out for quieter service and smaller size for other additions inside engine room. Has been main source of power since we purchased boat in 1982.

It will be completely dismantled to get through engine room door and onto dock for storage. Governor and pump fuel pump rebuilt in 2018 and water jacket pump rebuilt in 2109..Back end already disassembled and ashore.

Anyone interested welcome to inquire about parts or the whole thing. Located in San Pedro CA - Los Angeles harbor

cheers - Jack Boyt

I don’t know why but this fascinates me. An engine that big in a boat - just for electrical power. Can you post a pic of the boat ? ( sorry , probably “ship”)

Sorry for the delay in responding as have been busy - both with charters and dismantling the D311 - actually kind of fun.- attaching pics of before and process In order of the questions:

1. has an electric starter - about to take it off tomorrow - will take more pictures - so far been quite a work out - started with removing back end.

Now down to removing all ancillary equipment - oil cooler and water jacket pump, governor and fuel pump assembly, and so forth .See pic in current condition.

2.Next to size of generator on boat - previous owners (1979) had added air conditioning, 8 burner electric stove and ovens, etc. Have since removed all - have natural gas stove and all

See www.motoryachtmauretania.com for pics

Cheers
