Default Anyone know what this is

My wife goes to this local auction weekly and came home with some free treasures. There's another regular that knows I have the cats and just gives her some random stuff now and then. Usually nothing great but I throw it in the pile for future "just in case".
Haven't ever seen this before anyone know what it is and is for

A clutch and starter pinion for an early U series D2 or 4, a starting engine oil fill/breather for a j series D2 or 5tD4, same for the carb and a generator for an early 2 or 4.

Thanks, I knew about the other stuff just wasn't sure about the breather. It must be off of a real early model. My experience is with 1941 and up

Gary, I have that same breather arrangement on my 3J4086. I "think" that style went through to the end of the J-series.

All of the j model tractors I've dealt with have a different style pony breather. I might have to get the book out and check now. My 5t has the same breather as my 5j. Not to say these weren't upgraded but now I'm curious to know

This is from my parts catalog 5j3501 and up

From parts book 5t1 to 5t7411

These are the only ones I've dealt with. I did look more closely at some 3j pictures and could see the rounded filler cap. The round cap just has that "older" look

I checked my 3J parts manual and that breather style was effective 3J1 through 3J4877. 3J4878 through 5000 had the U-series style. That makes sense that they would have stopped producing the earlier style kind of timed to coincide with the advent of the U-series.
