Hi all.  That field I’d plowed was ready to disk after a couple rains.  Cranked up a 9U and got it smoothed up some.  Here’s some pictures.

Cool BP! I got to do some disking at mom's place, as well as my neighbors. I see your'e using a JD Killefer meant for the folks that drive on the wrong side of the road...for the life of me, I rarely see anything that is not meant to turn to the left. Reminds me of the "thing" about men wearing earrings; left is right and right is wrong... something like that! LOL.
I could have used one of the cabs that you hate so much. The gusts were really bad and I wanted to cross disc at an angle, I got to eat a lot of dirt. JM

Hi, Bruce P.
How DARE you???????????????? You've just done gone and blown JM's 'excuse' for complaining right out the window.

Now let's see if he turns up on your doorstep with a truck to collect a load of 'em or if he'll just keep on 'whingeing'.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Deas: I don't own the mineral rights to the property next door. I have used a lot of "Q tips" and still pulling dirt out of my ears. I might have to reverse the fan blades on the D4D I am using, as it really blows a LOT of dirt from the left side; I have seen some folks install a guard 18" tall to help keep it away from the operator.

Hi, juiceman.
So if you don't own the mineral rights to the property next door, you were technically STEALING their soil by taking it home with you in your ears???????????

Sure, Deas. One swab at a time...my Chinese laundry person doesn't appreciate the dirt either.
Seriously, that particular D4D kicks up a lot of dirt as if some vortex effect. Perhaps that is just due to a lot of silt.
BP would lose all of his chicken coops and dog houses if I came by and took some of those Pacific Northwest style cabs, not to mention the "bus stop".
If it would ever dry out here, some of us could go back to playing in the dirt. JM

Hi, juiceman.
Dem danged vortexes can be a problem. The JD 772C grader at SM ranch had a sucker fan when the ranch first got it. Take it out in the weeds to cut a road after the grass had dried out and it would start a vortex behind itself and choke the radiator with grass and dust in a couple of hours. You could 'ackshully' SEE the mini-tornado that it created sucking up 'stuff' into the radiator core. We put a blower fan in it and that stopped that issue.

That was not the first time I had seen that effect.

If you have a sucker fan in that D4D, putting a blower fan in its place may make a difference.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
