Jim,
Hope you have the chains on the 112 and the fuel tank full on your crawler. If you get that 24" they are talking about, you will need them. We just had fog and a light drizzle today but started raining this evening about 7pm. catskinner

Marv, we have about 14" on the ground (or more) and it is still snowing. I don't have a set of chains for the 112 but the D4 is full of fuel and we'll probably put it to use when it stops snowing and blowing. It is nothing but a sheet of ice underneath the snow. I can't even keep it shoveled off the front porch!! :)
Sounds like you folks will mostly get the rain and if you get any snow it won't amount to much.

I'm happy to report that the worst of this storm avoided Denver. We still have a lot of clean-up to do from the last storm. This one dumped maybe 8 inches or so. I understand the midwest has really gotten hit. GWH

And i am happy to report we never got any snow at all this time in Grand Junction....2" in the last one, but the snow blower got it in no time at all.

Using my Barnett Lumber Co. calibrated yard stick, I would guess we have right at 18" to 20" of snow on the ground. Wind is out of the N at 24 mph according to my handheld monitor as the real thing has been frozen for 2 days. Forecast for today and tonight is for 100% chance of snow and wind gusts to 35 mph. Overcast now with some drifting and light snow but the drifting has been minimal. I don't see any drifts over about 4 to 4 1/2 ft deep.
I won't be going anwhere for a while and will have to wait until the wind dies down to move any snow. Sure wish I had found a heat houser for the D4 but I didn't need one last summer!! :)

Kelly----

You must be living right. Just goes to show you how the news media tries to "sensationalize" every thing nowadays.

From what we were seeing over here----you would have thought the entire Rocky Mountains were swamped with snow.

Other than Sadam's hanging----I think they have been running short on major news stories for the last few days. Saw where James Brown's funeral was getting about as much coverage as Gerald Ford's passing.

Gotta look Grand Junction up on the map.

Rain moved in here in early hours of morning----dumped 2 " out of gauge little while ago. Temps around 60 F.

D4Jim...ya need me to bring my snowmobiles out your way? And here I though I was going to have to go to Colorado to ride...LOL! As catskinner said, all that Salina got was rain which is fine with me....spreads evenly acrossed the wheat fields for even moisture, rather than piling up along a fence row and makeing a 60 bu. crop, a couple of combine header widths wide! Keep us posted...Larry

Jim,
All we've had so far is rain, all last night and today. We had 1.60 at 4pm today. Read where BNSF has sent a rotary blower from Alliance, NE down to Den. and it is going South of Den now. SE CO NE New Mex., and OK panhandle got most of it this time. Have contact in Garden City and several churches and other things are closed for Sun. Had a UP coal train WB thru here at 4pm and they got a track warrant as far as Hays and the dispatcher told them to tie there train down in Hays and she would call a van to come and pick them up. I would sure like to see some rotary action or jordan spreader or any kind of snow plowing. Did see some from Den. airport on the runway with 5 plows and a snow blower blowing that off then. I love that kind of stuff. Heard today all but one power co. guys from here went out West someplace. catskinner

Jim,
Forgot to tell you. Take some sheets of plywood, cut down of course, and make you some curtain to get the heat back to you. Card board would even work. Will have to tie it down with some twine and you should be able to make a nice little nest. catskinner

Guys......we lucked out in Comanche county, no snow, just 1.25 inches of rain, It looks like Dodge City, Ks and west got ice, which is bad on high lines and trees. Used to buy nice dcanvas heat shrouds with zippers to reach vital spots on engine. Darrol
