Good afternoon, can anyone recommend a repair service for my pony motor fuel tank 8F8298 used in my D4 7U36219?  Mine is full of large rust flakes with plenty of rust holes in it.  I have used the coatings before, but the inside of this tank is really flaking off big chunks and am suspicious of its effectiveness.  Thanks!  Elton

Sounds like it has succumbed to the rust bug. I would look for a good used one and go from there. For my two cents the "plastic" liners are very durable and trouble free if they are done right in the first place. Good luck.

When I visited Scott Flint in California 2 years ago he was making brand new ones out of stainless steel, not sure of the cost, if you want his contact details sing out, I know "Brewzer" Wally has contact with Scott.

Gary,
Good morning! Please check it out for its quality and if good, let me know how much you want for it. I would be happy to have a good one rather than an old one that was refurbished. If it still has the filter and it is good, quote it too. Thanks! Elton

2 option's cut it in 1/2, sand blast and Tig weld it back together.

The less drastic option is to put in a handful it nuts n bolts in it and tumble for hours. some have attached to the rear tire of lawn mower and mowed the lawn.

Steve, I like the idea of the lawn mower trick except I hope to get my D4 running before I need the lawn mower. Hopefully D2 Gary will have success, or someone else will have one if he doesn't. Thanks folks! Elton

A replacement tank is probably your quickest and easiest solution Elton. That said, I had a pretty bad rust situation in my tank - I ate out the rust with citric acid, then put about twenty coats of POR-15 in it. Seven years later no sign of any issues. Took a couple of days to put the layers of POR-15 in it. Was no trouble at all.

Cheers,
Neil

This is the only one I have left, no major rust. Obviously the filler neck would need replaced, sorry no filter assembly
