JuiceMan just cannot help himself, some very helpful friends alerted me of a Cat 40 scraper that was for sale;naturally I had to save it from the clutches of others. It was a tad snowy in Washington state, so we asked permission to wait things out until we had a chance to retrieve it.
Lo and behold, “Dead Axle” posted a tiny Murray for sale not long after. Perfect, as we do not like burning fossil fuel partially loaded.
I wish to thank each of the sellers for being so nice and very accommodating. Each pickup went smoothly and the scrapers were much to my satisfaction.
In the meantime, they will relax in sunny California, keeping the others company. (I think I need intervention)JM

-lovely saves...i hope they can be also repurposed....do some actual work...with some attention etc..
-me feels everything has gotten so big....focus on smaller equipment that still fills a need and does a job

Thank you everyone. Not gloating about it, but everyone needs a hobby. I think I am done for awhile; lack of space, time etc. what is the point if I can't enjoy the iron with friends and some newbies? I will try each of them out, and see how they perform.
Deas: No shortage of pulling iron here, I would like to take the "high speed" D2 4U and set it up with 2 spool hydraulics for one of the small Murray scrapers; as far as another 40 puller, I was going to hook one up to one of the D6 8U's for some extra "grunt". Too many choices. To make some IH fans happy, I might use one of my recently acquired TD-9B Custom Application units (another story hahaha). One has a C frame which would be perfect for a push pull situation. Stay tuned.
Neil: The KW was one of those online purchases that was instigated by that IDeeHoarder aka Mr. D4e some years back. With peer pressure, (mainly HIM!) I succumbed to the bidding process and ended up with it. Originally from a local farmer, it was used to haul nuts and rice. I got it back to the yard and ended up blowing most of the paint and body filler off with my pressure washer; needless to say, I was screwed, as It was a rainbow underneath and so beat up, it was not something I would have liked. It went to one of my local trailer builders and the body and paint job was for them to do whenever it got slow (always busy there). I need to find time to charge the AC back up and button up the interior some; aside from that, it runs really good. I would be lying to you if I said it had a 3408 stuffed in it... (I wish !) It does have a snappy Cummins Big Cam 290 that runs more like 400+ and a 13 speed. It gets to spend its days going to an occasional truck show or used as a yard spotter here. One day I will get some historical plates for it, and pull an equipment trailer to a show. JM

Neil: the body is pristine now; I plan on having a master sign painter/ pinstriper add some “bling” to it.
Of course, if you offered me enough $$$, I would let it be re-homed to NY. JM

I thought he might be considering putting the scraper behind a tailseat, figured he had me in his sights!
