a bit offtopic but we are now talking about it:
when is the drawbar used NOT in the center??? or when are you letting it swing free ??
for the TEN and fifteen tractors it used to break the cast iron brackets if its could swing free.
maybe someone knoes as i am now restoring the old cats but never used to work with them togetter with atachements.
is it easyer to make a turn when the drawbar can swing free?

allowing the drawbar to swing allows you more room to make a tighter turn.

When plowing turn drawbar towards furrow side keeping your cat out of the furrow and on the level. This works great with my "little Ollie' plow (1 x 20 prairie plow with 32" culter wheel. Also when doing ditch work with grader you would swing to the side along with setting the grader blade over for the same reason as to keep the Cat on the level road while the grader was off the side ditching.

I also makes turning easier when pulling a heavy load.

Old n slow,

Do what I and many others have done, build the tools you need or modify the ones you have to fit the need. I've got one section in my shop tool box that has nothing but tools to work on Cats, some home made, some modified from something that was close enough that it almost worked as it was.

After all, necessity is the mother of invention
