Hey folks,
I've got a D69U cable blade and the clutch is worn out. I'm hoping someone can help me identify it. I'd like to get a manual so I can repair it and learn how to adjust it.

Any help would be appreciated.

That's a late No. 24 cable control either a series 8D501-up or a series 33E1-up.
The serial number plate is usually just to the right of the center (appears gone) check that area for a stamped number.

Takes the same clutch plates as the steering clutches on a D4, available at www.steeringclutch.com

Learn how to adjust it first...........It most likely doesn't need clutches if you haven't adjusted it lately.

I'll start you off..........NEVER adjust it with the engine running.

I had it all downloaded from this site or ACME, can't remember which, but I sold the CCU, changed computers and now I can't find the paper copies. I think I could do it, but don't want to tell you wrong and cause you difficulty. Sorry

Since I need to get a manual I'll certainly see if I can adjust. Theres a threaded rod and double nut on the front that looks like its reached its end. I have a feeling that is the adjustment since about everything else on this tractor is at its last adjustment point (tracks, brakes, etc.)

The manuals you will need are the Parts Manual for that series and the "Operation and Maintenance Instructions" manual for instructions.
In the mean time here are the adjustment instructions...good luck.

OM scanned these and posted them for me for a D7. Maybe it is the same.

Wow! Thanks ya'll. You giving me the adj. instructions will allow me to work on it tomorrow. I hope it doesnt matter that mine doesnt have the lock plate. In any case I cant wait to try it.

I can see now the brake spring on mine is different. It doesnt have the rod for adjustment. The blade will lift but it wont stay up. It slowly keeps dropping. Does that sound like clutch worn or brake not adjusted?

Yes it matters that you don't have the lock plate. The lock plate and clamp bolt are what holds the adjustment and prevents engagement when the engine is started:eek: Talking major safety issue here!!!!!!

After the brake lever adjustment is made if the blade won't hold then tighten the brake spring adjusting nut. More likely it is a brake adjustment required. If the clutch was shot it wouldn't lift the blade at all.

There is another manual that has the service and overhaul instructions. It's The "Service Reference Book" for Cable Controls #27, 25, 24, 23, 21. Form # 10088-2
