We messed with the kill stud on the magneto and got it running. Checked all the fluids and washed it to check for leaks. Then we tried to start it this afternoon and the damn stud is grounding out again.

We got the cap off the mag and found that the stud was again grounding to the case. We pulled the wires off of the stud and found that the wire that goes back into the mag, I think to the coil, is grounded to the case. The picture has and arrow to this wire.

In this condition the pony will fire and run for a second or two and then just die.
Has the coil gone bad or do you guys think we can pull it off and fix just that wire?
