Neil,

Thanks for the pictures.

Do you know anything about the history of the D9G?

Does it still have a blade and what type of box is it?

This is mid 1973 build D9 fitted with a Kenco ROPS and has external services fitted to operate an hydraulic box such as the 627 based box in the photo.
There is a 155 Komatsu blade for it as the previous owner was highly critical of the weight and size of the standard D9G blade I also have a four barrel multi-shank ripper for it and a push button blade. It would have come from the same stable as Russell Saywells.

Neil,

Would that be Charlie Benson the owner of the previous SED site at Fen Farm? Russell's D9G also has the Komatsu 155 blade fitted?

At the SED show in 2003?, Charlie exhibited his D9G pusher & 631 scraper on the Light House Club stand.

Has you shipped her back over yet, when you you plan to use her in anger for the first time?

Hi Neil, the tractor looks real good, I am looking forward to the sound of her " BARK ", the old knackers I have been working on lately will put me in to an early grave, the latest punishment tractor I am "sorting" has nearly put me off my BEER, its a 68a with 2 duff f/drives, one had the one piece intermediate gear , rare these days ??? but it is fitted with D8K bearing hubs with no labrinth dirt guards fitted to the sprocket,s, the frames need a mile of work , the engine is a right duffer??? and the trans, runs red hot after only 40 min,s work , also there is so many oil leaks "Red Adair" would give up, worst of all its owner is a dirt farmer, that thinks its only a simple job, saying that he near filled his pants as the one spocket blew off the hub with 95 tons and a few good shots from my 28 lbs sledge hammer to help it "fly", he was looking to see what was holding it on, as I set to with some good swings??? , he tends to keep out of my way now,I will call you before the w/end.

No, Charlie did not own those machines, the D9 in those photos I have been told is the one I have. I have the machines home and hope to go to a job end of September.

Tony, sounds as if you are in your element, ie pulling Cats into big lumps!!!!!
Tho I think from the description given the hot spanner would be the most appropriate tool. Jus remember when you come near mine to put all such thoughts out of your mind-just focus on the more mundane job of serviceing and sorting the two lift cylinders. If you feel any other twitches coming on ,ignore them and they'ill go away ..LOL

TC, reading your comments is worth the price of admission here, if there were no other benefits at all...the farmer watching the sprocket had me on the floor...I love it when somebody "sees the light"...esp. a nosey helper...

It would seem that most folks talk about what they used to do Ron, how they did that, that and that , but it seems the Upton Donkey ( me ) is the only fool still doing all the hard work , all I seem to get is the crap jobs no-one askes me to service anything , it's always the jobs that no-body wants , or cannot do ??????, anyhow I am glad just to see another day,and take in the fresh air, the amount of work ahead of me nearly makes me ill, there is a true saying, " If work was any good , the rich would have the lot????," but obviously its no good as I always seem to be flat out.
tctractors,
ps, any good jobs going around your patch Ron.
