Hi edb,
I frequently get asked about specs or allowable resurfacing dimensions for the main engine dry clutch plates. I have never seen any Cat info on the subject and I was wondering if you might have anything on the topic. Thanks

Replied by edb on topic Clutch Component Reusability.
Hi OM,
will have a look, but also do not recall anything for lined plate thickness or allowable material removal from the steel plate components.
The steel plates usually do not need a lot of grinding to get 80 to 90% clean up that I used to ask the machine shop for, gives you more chances at resurfacing before heat cracks make them suspect for reuse.
Cat do publish a series "Guidelines for Reusable Parts", these only cover steering clutch and wheel brake drums from memory, in this type of friction component.
Cheers,
Eddie B.
