D4 7U engine interchange

D4 7U engine interchange was created by mkreh23

What other Cat equipment has the same engine as the D4 7U series? I believe the engine is a D315? Is that correct? Does an early 955 12A series have the same engine as the D4? Thanks for any help.

Its the same basic engine, the oil pan is different though and maybe the oil pump as well.

Yes the 955 12A has the D315 as Catsilver said & also the HT4 loader uses it too.The same basic engine was used in various industrial uses but same as the 12A loader there probably will be some housings & parts that will be needed from the regular D4 7U tractor. The 6U narrow gauge D4 tractor has the exact engine as the 7U tractor.
