Hello, thanks for your help.Sprocket is overhauling his D8.Gave him the drawing that you posted on this BB some time ago but he mislayed it.He has been getting all the parts overhauled for the rebuild. He wants to check the engine block for fractures before its reassembled,so he is also looking for a diagramme of the engine block so that he can tell the person doing the checking where to look.He also wanted a drawing of the cyl head cross section which you supplied. Many thanks for posting it.He is collecting a refurbished crank shaft on Saturday.I will post pictures as the rebuild takes place.

To help Spocket with his full engine / tractor rebuild I am sending him a Service manual also (at some great cost) I am going to travel to Cardiff and pull his tractor to bits.

TC I read it very carfully thats what didnt make sense if he got the block pic he would have the combustion chamber (the cyls), what got was the head pic ( the precombustion chambers) theres a big diff my friend many diesels dont even have precombustion chambers. Is the key word precombustion here or combustion chamber

Martyn,
Don't have much in the way of block cross sections but with the wet sleeve on the inside, what you see on the outside is pretty much it. Also the combustion chamber normally associated with the cylinder head is pretty much flat with the only depressed area for the valves. Check for cracks running between valve seats and into the pre-com chamber opening.

Thanks for all your help, the last time I saw the cylinder heads one of the valve seats were in a bad way.I think he has has this sorted out this week.Only hope that it was a good repair job because if it fails it could be an expensive bill with damage to all the new bits he is fitting to it.
Hello Tony, glad you are going to give him a hand.At £4.00 per hour he has got a bargin.Hope to see you soon.I am mobile now, only on one crutch.
