D8 Brake Band Bolts was created by HUNTER
Is there anything special about the brake band adjusting bolts, that a normal hex head bolt of the same size would'nt work the same?.The only thing that looks different to me,is that the bolts I took out(because they were bent),appear to have the tip rounded off where they contact the brake band, but that may be due to wear. Any thoughts??

Are they the support bolts that are underneath the tractor and support the bands from the bottom?

I would guess a standard bolt probably doesn't have enough threads on it, but I've never removed one from any tractor to look at it. Why not thread one on down? I doubt the tip shape is real critical, it just supports the band from beneath so it doesnt sag and drag the upper sections on the brake drum when the brake is released.

D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

If it is the support bolts you can buy continuous thread bolts up to 6 inch long from McMaster-Carr. Choice of grade 8 square (set screw) head like original or regular hex.

S/N#8R-641. Yes they are the bolts that support the brake bands from underneath. If I cant find bolts long enough with long enough threads, then I plan to make my own.

Hi Hunter,
maybe use some "allthread" and cut it to length then weld a nut on one end so as to able to adjust it without having to resort to multigrips or what ever.
I make a lot of one off bolts this way,if the weld is machined up you would hardly know the difference.
Cheers,
Eddie B.
