Info on moving D9 from OR to MN

I am looking for info on getting a D9 from Oregon to northern Minnesota the cheapest way-answer-there is none. I`m looking at about 62,000 lbs. without blade and trunions. 9` 6" in width. Are there states to stay out of? Anyone know of any internet sites for putting a load on bid? Any truckers out there interested in hauling it? I will take care of the blade, arms and trunions myself. I would appreciate any information anyone could give me. Thanks-Doug

You might check with freightquote.com . Their prices have been pretty good on shipping small parts (pallets & boxes) but I don't know if they can do full loads. Might be worth a try. .

Also, you might try the ACME site as they have a section on hauling loads. antiquecaterpillar.org

A five axle truck and trailer with an overweight and overwide permit (about $35.00), with flagging and signage, will get you legally out out of California.

Doug, have you already bought the D9 you're asking about moving?

I only ask as there is (or was a little over a year ago) an exceptional 18A not as far away from you in Ignace, Ontario.

Undercarriage was as new as i could tell, it ran out very well.

It did not have a blade, or any attachments. It served as a platform for a drill rig at a gold mine. Before they cut it off, it was hardly recognizable as a crawler. I wish i had taken some photos of it before they removed it.

It's got an air powered engine starter. That was a drawback for me, as well as having to source a blade, hydraulics, etc.

I picked up a D9G later that year, and filed this one away. If you want, i can find the fellow's number and pm it to you. I have no interest, financial or otherwise, in the machine at all, but it sure could save you on shipping one from OR.

I never did hammer out a price with him, i was told he was basically given it while he was doing mine reclamation work at the site when they closed it down. I kind of threw out an $8k offer, and he was still interested. If it's still there, he's had it for 4-5 years now, and has no doubt thought of sending to a scrap yard. It would be a shame, as the engine ran exceptional, and had zero blowby.
