Hi Jan,
I replaced the ring gear on my 3J flywheel. The ID was a little on the small side when my guy fitted it and it split in a root, but the gap was only a few thou so we welded it up and hopefully it will do the trick. Doing this again, I'd figure out some way of enlarging the ID so it fit better (still supposed to be an interference fit, just not as tight as I had it). I think the ring gear came from someone like General Gear

Cheers,

The ring gear is bolted on to the flywheel, the same ring gear is used on the D4, U, some of the J series, etc, the pinion same as D2, D4.

Josh, Neil-

I have access to the pony and main motor of D4 7U 6172. The ring gear would bolt on the flywheel and the pony would have the pinion? That sound good. Thanks so much!

I have 4B3174, 5B7616, and 7B6249 for the ring gear for the J-series through 5000 - 93 teeth, takes 8 5B6459 capscrews, and 4 5B7617 tin locks (for the capscrews). It's a press fit on so you'll need your persuader to remove/install. I "think" it was $420 from Cat when I priced it a couple of years ago and $250 from GG but it sounds like you have parts already : )

I think he meant those are the part numbers shown for the ring gear.

Florin shows they have one, price on request

Yes sir - apologies for the confusion - I was listing the part numbers for the ring gear etc. General Gear have them and it sounds like Florin have one too.
