TractorDon kept getting his white coat caught in the fan blade so he switched to white coveralls. Much safer.

Well I got my tractor on the 30th. It pored down the whole day. Needle was stuck on the pony carb, Cleaned it, checked the plugs for fire, checked all fluids, filled with gas and prepared for lift off. The previous owner had rigged up a ford starter motor on the fender with a belt gong to the pony pully. I hooked up some cables and it was spinning. A little choke and it was running great. I was excited for sure. Engaged the clutch and the diesel was spinning great. Dad had to hold the pinion in cause it wanted to jump out. Let it build a little heat, pushed in the decompression and a little smoke. Bled the injector lines at pump. Got fuel on all four and black smoke and she was alive. I shut the pony down and she ran perfect. No smoke, no miss, and no knocking. Raised the blade and was off. Until I had to turn. Now the four miles of mountain trail was a chore to drive out of but it came right out with the help of our farm tractor to steer it. Dad drove the cat, brother drove the tractor, and I hustled the chain from one corner of the blade to the other. All in he cold pouring rain, but to drive up on the trailer and watch it idle like new made it all worth it. It was raining when we got it home so no pics yet. I had to leave the next morning. Dang! Both steering clutches stuck, rails pretty wore, sprockets shot.winch doesn't work, but the motor runs perfect, clutch feels good, trans works good, brakes work and the grousers are fair. But knowing that it's home and will be there till I'm long gone is a great feeling.

Plug the housing drain holes (3/4" pipe plug), block the friction levers back all the way, fill the clutch housings with cleaning solvent, let it sit the rest of the winter. You might get lucky and free it up under power next spring!

Need some D2 info--anybody know the correct sequence for the rollers on a D2 with respect to the flanges?--mine has, from front to rear, double,double,double,single--this seems odd to me?

The correct way for the rollers are front double & rear single and in between shouldn,t make any difference. Probably someone got some extra doubles cheap and put on but it shouldn,t matter.

Thanks--I won't even try to determine the logic of that thumbnail! At least always a single in the rear---now, is the single flange always on the inside or the outside??

Ya, the diagram is a little strange in that it shows half a roller. Single flange would be to the outside.
