D2 5J fuel cap as a radiator cap?

Dike itself is supposed to be safer for bearings if it gets in the oil, but the main thing is to stop the coolant leaking. I had thought of using just water right at first, but someone told me the DIKE needs the antifreeze in the coolant to work, so it got regular green antifreeze.

We used Dike in a DT466 engine for a year or more for radiator leaks and ended up doing an inframe overhaul when it got coolant in the oil. After the inframe it was not long before coolant was discovered in the oil again. Dropped the pan and pressurized the system and discovered that there was a pit corroded through the rear of the waterpump housing that had probably been the problem all along. The engine was running about 8 hours a day through all of this and its still running today.

Thanks for the insight. From the research I have done DIKE is a safer alternative to Bars Leak and isn't as likely to harm anything internal and it can be removed by draining the coolant (and would need replaced when coolant is re-added). I'll give it a try and see if it works for a little awhile to at least give me some seat time on the machine to see what other issues I'm looking at. If it needs something else major it would be nice to know as I can just add liner seals to the to-do list down the road.

Thanks,
Jordan

I've put 2 bottles of DIKE in (enough for an 8 gallon system), mixed each with a gallon of 50/50 before putting in. The system was drained and I put those 2 gallons in first then topped off with 50/50.

Initially the leak stopped 100% then after sitting 3-5 days it goes back to leaking again. Before running I just crack the oil pan drain to remove the water at the bottom, top off and go again. I've gone threw that scenario I think 3 times now. It stops the leaking 100% then starts again after sitting several days. It is not leaking nearly as fast as it was originally though even when it goes back to leaking and this is giving me some seat time with out worrying about antifreeze getting in the engine when I'm running it.

I'm ironing out the hard start issue in another thread, otherwise the machine is doing good.

Thanks,
Jordan
