I was told, this was one of the earliest Cat dealers.
Sold John Deere until Deere wanted company to have individual shops/showrooms - Deere pulled out when told not going to happen. Caterpillar was the mainstay for equipment.
Sold Ford Tractors for a while after Deere pulled out. Company also held the Dodge Dealership for a period of time.
Were very large farmer/landowners in Glenn and Colusa Counties.
Company was dissolved after George and Ivy ( I.G.'s sons) passed.
What an experience to work for George Zumwalt, almost like working in an antique museum with old and new equipment!

Love this thread. It would be awesome if this could transform into a magazine article on the evolution of the Caterpillar dealerships and their signage. I know early on John Deere and Caterpillar shared dealerships as seen by many of the decals and signs here. Great to tell the story of why they started together and when and how it ended.
Great decals keep them coming.

The magazine did have an article about the joint dealer program a while ago. I can see if I can find which issue has it.
I remember we had some discussion about that on here, along with a fair amount of the history. I couldn't find the thread I remembered, but I did find this one which has some neat dealer truck pictures and a little joint dealer information.

Garlic Pete:
Too many peeps think all of us left coasters are liberals and pot heads. Your use of the word “joint” makes it appear marijuana related to some? No, I’m not part of the grammar police (or fashion for that matter) Lol.
