Now that we have a tooth count it would appear your unit is patterned after the Cat #4, 951 & 955 rippers that have the five/socket shank holder. The earlier HT4 units I mentioned have a seven socket shank holder. Either one is a desirable attachment.

That trailer looks too light for a 7 ton dozer. Arround town is one thing 60mph is something else. To get a good idea of the actual gvw of the trailer and dozer, take a look at the tires For that safe load they better be 5k each. Jim

:) Hi all!

:D :D :D
Well, my second neighbor came through for me and had a friend call who actually keeps his Case backhoe and other equipment basically just 1/2 mile away! The Driver (Chuck) brought over his Peterbuilt bobtail dump and a big heavy Backhoe trailer with air brakes! After I was able to make contact with the seller that we could come Chuck came over to pick me up and we set out at 4 PM!

Everything went real smooth. We arrived at the seller's son's home where the Cat was parked. The D4 started right up and Chuck loaded it on his tilt bed while I did the transaction and received the manuals that came with the machine. Once it was tied down, off we went back down the hill for a bumpy but safe ride home. Once at home Chuck just drove off our street into my side field and reversed the process to unload. I'm paying Chuck $350 for the 44 mile move (88 miles R/T).:)

One pleasant surprise I got was when the D4 got up on the trailer, I discovered why the lower engine side panels are cut out at the forward mounting pads. The Cat has a skid-plate/rock guard that attaches on those mounting pads and someone got lazy and made cut outs instead of R & R the lower panels to get rock guard attached! I already knew that the lower track guards were the heaver (ribbed) ones, but I missed seeing the oil pan rock guard!

Now I have lots of work, if I have any hope of bringing her to the BSOT in less than two weeks!

John

PS I'll take and post photos tomorrow evening, as I didn't have time today!:D

Glad to hear everything and everybody is home safe:)
Very common to have the side panels cut out at the front belly pan mounts. Problem is you would not be able to remove the side panels without removing or at least dropping the front of the belly pan otherwise.
