Jan Meermans. EEK, Look at the front tires. No wonder it is in such nice shape. It was unfit for duty. :eek2::eek2::eek2:

Hi, Jan M and O-I-H.
I'm gonna leave you 2 to debate this 'cos, although the 'tahrs' may care, I don't think the 'ackshull' machine gives a rat's which way those 'tahrs' are fitted. The rear ones, yes, the fronts, nope.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Roger,

You are so spot on! I noticed them right away and now I got you doing it. That to me is progress! I'll bet every time you see a blade now you look at the front tires. I can't help it either. Just comes naturally.

Replied by D4Jim on topic Seasoned Grader Operators
Most seasoned grader operators know that the traction direction of the grader tires must point toward the blade. Hence, the front tires appear to be on "backwards" when properly installed because the traction direction of the front tires must be toward the blade. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!! :behindsofa::behindsofa:

Besides, my 112 Caterpillar manual clearly shows the front tires on "backwards", which is the only way to mount the front grader tires. :tape::tape:

You are right. I can not help but look. If I ever have a reason to remove my front tires on my 212 I will orient them at that time to the correct reverse tread configuration. What I found most interesting was the post edb posted some time back about the dealer installing all the tires with the tread reversed for less tire wear when they needed to be roaded a long distance when sold new.
