Dear SJ,

This story goes way back to when Reggie was a pup and I had just got this D2 running.

He always wanted to be “with” me when I was running the D2.

I was always afraid that I would run over him so I put this little puppy on the fender with me.

I happen to think it’s the safest place for him.

As I am running along I always hold my hand on him so I’m sure that he is secure on the fender.

He never tries to jump off or anything like that – he’s happy to be right there on the fender.

He wedges his butt back against the rear light and that seems to give him an extra grip when riding.

I’ll continue to be careful.

Hi Bill. I think I speak for a lot of members when I say that we all look forward to your photo's of the three of you (Reggie, D2 and yourself). They are always entertaining.
I also think that most of us believe it is great that you take Reggie with you on the D2. Most of us have had faithful dogs on or around machinery for a long time.
It has been suggested before that perhaps to increase Reggie's safety, you may want to sit him on, say some carpet or rubber matting, that would increase his stabilty (I realize he has a very low centre of gravity :D ) and staying power enormously, should you have to move your hand for some unforeseen emergency. It does not have to be large in area - just wide enough for him to grip with his paws. This mat could be secured by velcro or the like so you could remove it for shows.
Please consider.
Rod.

Bill,
Nice photo, dogs really love to ride on those Cats. I think my dog (Dozer) likes the Cat (D6D) better than me. He will bark at me when I let too many tree branches hit the canopy post. The backup alarm dosen't seam to bother him.

I built a small box with a rug in the bottom so he can get good footing. The box fits between the two side canopy post and supported above the battery box and about 8 inches above the power shift handle. The side screen also gives him some protection. Sorry I don't have a good photo of the box.
