It was a rare treat to see a 1918 Holt 75 actually pulling a load and to hear it bark. It's a unique sound.

First, the tractor pull was like the kind they did 50 years ago, before the unlimited pullers got all the attention. The stock tractors were hitched to a large steel slip and they start pulling past people sitting at intervals along the track. As the slip passes each of these people, each in turn gets onto the slip so they are adding 300 to 400 or more pounds every ten feet. It usually bogs down all but the biggest of the wheel tractors before they reach the finish.

Notice the load behind the Holt. They first loaded the haul-back tractor, a good size J.I. Case two wheel drive, and most of the people on hand. They went this way from a standing start to the finish line, never missed a pop! What a show!
