I will measure mine tomorrow if you have not yet got the thickness of the plate.

I will measure mine tomorrow if you have not yet got the thickness of the plate.

Thanks Glum, we think it is 1/2 inch plate but would sure appreciate you verifying that if possible. Mainly we want to make certain it is not on the thin side as there is plenty of room for a thicker plate.

Looks like you saved me some searching! I wanted to have some new mounting made for mine as well. I believe I patched a missing chunk of it with 1/2'' flat plate. It sure would be nice if someone had a NOS tube laying around to buy, but doubtful. If you have your machine shop make extras, I would be interested in one or two...Thanks, JM

The Fabricator will order enough 1/2" cold rolled plate to make two mounting plates, one for each of us. He recommended CR rather than HR as it is much easier for him to machine.
The tube would be a tough one to make with the tight tolerances and relatively thin wall. Thankfully I don't have to have that made (yet). My guess is that when Cat made the original tubes they had a special reamer that precise dimension as I don't think they could bore that thin wall tube that accurate. In the meantime maybe Cat can magically find the drawing.

***Sounds wonderful. Let me know how things turn out, and if an extra is produced, the cost and how to send you $ for shipping to me. Thank you, JM.

There is a difference in Cat dealers. I had been waiting for the detailed drawing of the mounting plate from a Nebraska dealer for over a month 5F6577 even after repeated requests. Called Foley Tractor in Colby KS today just a few minutes ago and had a drawing on my computer in less than 5 minutes.

JM,
I asked the shop to make two, one for me and one for you. if you need a second one, let me know. He makes them on a CNC machine so should not be much more if you want another later on. We'll split the price whatever it is.

That is way too easy sounding. Sorry, but I am so old school here, I keep forgetting there is more to life than hammers, chisels, cutting torches and plasma cutters!
Thanks a bunch, I need all the help I can get. Your #40 is gonna be super sweet when completed. JM
