Pony piston rings was created by D2Fred
When you order piston rings and bearings for the pony motor on a d2, are the rings packaged one ring in a box? Are the rod bearings one half or both halves? Is there a source other than the dealer? One ring for 13 bucks is pretty expensive!

Hi D2Fred,
The rings are supplied one ring per box so 8 boxes, and for the bearings it is packed two shells in the one box, so 2 required.

Have you tried Florin Tractors as Dana might have some.

Pony motors have never been known to be a cheap starter on the old Cats. I had near a $1000 in a D6 pony in the early 90's. For a working tractor I should of put the direct start kit on it.

you order rings as a set. not individually unless they are listed as individual part numbers in the parts book. which also often has the quantity required listed too.

take a piston into your local rebuild shop they may be able to match up a set of rings for you. i have a air compressor that has mazda rings in it. they could probably do bigend shells too.
and a family friend had austin healy engine with 179 holden red motor pistons and rings when they bored it out to the maximum the 179 pistons fit perfectly, when they finish hotting it up it would take on 351 powered fords. many engines used the same size parts as others did.
