We need a little more information as to what you consider the transmission, a the D2 does not have a separate unit for the transmission. is it just the gear sets, will it include the final drives? etc.

Thanks for your reply Josh. I have the finals and steering clutches removed. I’m preparing to replace the main clutch. Here’s a couple of pictures.
Thanks again,
Chad

Hi Chad, I don't have an actual number for you but I'm figuring it's not a huge % different from the main engine. I have one of those 2t Harbor Freight shop cranes and I "think" that I managed to lift the engine on the inner most extension setting but I could be wrong about that. My whole 5U with 2S blade etc. weighs around 10k so you figure there's maybe 2k-ish in each of the engine, trans, each undercarriage/final assembly on each side, then the blade. I'd guesstimate 1000-1500?

Cheers,
Neil

I don't show a weight for that exact transmission case, but a similar one for the later model D2 is 372 lbs for the bare case, based on that and the weight of individual shafts and gears, my guess is around 800 lbs, add a little more if the drawbar and brackets are included.

Thanks Neil and Josh. I wanted to have a general idea when Dad and I get ready to pull it loose.

heres a tip make a cuuple of cradles on castors to support it and the engine and then you can move them around easily it also makes it easier to reassemble as everything is in line and it should just slide together.

the great uncle made a set for his wheeled tractors so he could do clutch and trans repairs as needed made life real easy.

that's a great idea, cradles with castors...and sturdy stands...beware some are not worthy of their ratings..

always dropping GOLD, all you have to do is just pick it UP !

yes dont buy the cheap castors buy decent ones and they'll last for yrs. i have made excellent fixed wheels for machinery using steel bore casing offcuts and flat bar with pipe or round bar for axles. 4 or 5 inch steel pipe works well too. fixed wheels simply mean you have to bar it around with a crowbar to turn it.
