An option to the position as shown on JM's unit is to position the box to the rear of the fender to ease access to/from the operators platform.

On the D4, I mounted the toolbox on the back of the seat. It seems I was using the tools when I was off the Cat anyway. Made it a lot easier to get into the seat.

my 2 cents says place battery close to starter, out of the way as much as possible...

always dropping GOLD, all you have to do is just pick it UP !
