I would like to have the old forum back even for just a day to compare. We were promised this new format for so long and how wonderful it was to be that we came to believe it. It has turned out to be quite disappointing.

I have found most "upgrades" to in fact steps backwards. When I first started following ACMOC it was on the discuss platform. It was much better for searching past posts than anything since.

This upgrade might be better for the club pages, Hawking memberships and such although I doubt it, I never go there. For the actual forum user it is a clumsy piece of crap.

To change the subject some; I was trying to post multiple photos the other day to a thread and I could only post one picture at a time per reply.
I have been uploading from my photos from image shack.
Can one of the moderators post a thread giving directions for posting photos? I believe it was on the older BB. Perhaps my file is too large per picture is the only thing I can think of.
I too would like to see the box to preview a post to make corrections before posting rather than be asked for a reason for editing.

Hi Phil, I don't know if I've ever quoted multiple posts - probably not. At most, I would have only pulled some text from a single previous post. I don't usually use features like that; instead I'll just copy the text that I want, paste it in the editor with a set of quotation marks around it, then type in my text. The _PRESENT occurs after I edit my post. I've also passed that on to IT - I don't know what the root cause is but would put good money on the editor element adding that string because the developer forgot to remove some debugging code.

Hello Neil
Thanks for the reply. I rarely use multi quote but a lot of times I will split up someones reply into sections so I can reply to each question or point. That does not work anymore.

I little bit of research found that the new forum is Kunena and it is a free addon for Joomla. Joomla is basically a free way to create a website.  It is in direct competition with Wordpress. There is no way the IT company that installed this new interface earned their money. Also despite what the board was told vbulletin is still alive and thriving and being updated.

Hi PhilC,
the multiple quotation does appear to work fine. Ryan tested it in this thread and I created another test thread to test it. To use the function, use the Action dropdown below the relevant post and select Quote. This will open the regular editor. Insert your cursor to the place you would like to insert your comment then click the double-quotes button in the Editor toolbar, which will split the quote and you can type your comments in. I'll add a screenshot of where this is.

Sideseat, let me find the guide I put up a while back on how to add more than one picture at a time. Are you adding pictures from your phone or from your pc?

Cheers,
Neil

Here's the screenshots showing that sequence above. The one item I neglected to mention is that when you place your cursor into the quoted text, hit enter a couple of times so your cursor is separated from the quoted text. This will make only your cursor and comments break out from the quoted text. If you just place your cursor in the middle and hit the double quotations button, it will unquote the entire paragraph.

Hi Sideseat, I just added those pictures above from my pc in one step. What I did was:
- go to the editor
- click attachments
- selected my multiple pictures
- wait for the progress bar (blue line that fills up) to complete
- then click the "Insert All" button (you can also click each picture's insert button if you want to not insert one into the post)

Let me know if you need more info.

Cheers,
Neil

Firstly Sorry Mike for hijacking your thread. I don't think your issue has been addressed.

Hello Neil
Thanks for showing the process for splitting a quoted reply.

What about post preview? It was there when the forum was first installed but then removed probably because no one knew how to fix it.

Neil take a look through the forum and see how many people are posting their reply as part of the quoted text. Can the forum be changed so that it automatically inserts a new paragraph when quoting someones reply instead of having to click the little red arrow?

I'll ask IT about that Phil because the fewer the steps, the better. I'll have to take a look at this little red arrow - not sure I've noticed that.
For Mike's issue of not being able to reply, that's a bug that's on Kunena's to-fix list. Meantime, our IT team have come up with a workaround that fills the subject line so that it doesn't blow back when the poster hits the submit button. Apparently this defect raises its head when a reply is made on page 2 or higher of the thread. In any case, if anyone still gets this problem, let me know with specifics of the situation (e.g. which thread, page#, etc.) and I'll get that info over to Ryan.
