That would also be where the tractor serial number plate is.

Are we talking about the pony clutch lever?
There's no tag there, I've since cleaned it off a bit better than in the pictures. However I did find the serial number stamped into the engine sump flange.

7U3784, apparently that means the tractor is of '48 vintage.

Correct, should be a tag there, you can see the rivet holes or rivets on the block.
