Cat 30 brake recoil spring question

More
1 year 7 months ago #240886 by Mike Meyer
I'm doing some research on the Cat 30 brake recoil spring S-1670, I just wanted to double check the dimensions of that spring, if someone has one laying around. From my part number books, it looks like the early Best 30 did not have that recoil spring, as it wasn't until 1926 that it started being used, or have I got that wrong?

The spring appears to be a 1" diameter coil, made from wire around 0.122" in diameter, with around 48 or 49 wraps in the coil, and the hooked ends are at a 90 degree angle to each other.
Appreciate any expert advice
Thanks
