Nice looking machine 👍🏻
You have a close up shot of the precleaner?
I see all that crap that came out of your original filter; Is it decomposed cork, or just dust ?
I recently cleaned the crankcase breather on a D47U engine we’re working on. I thought I had all the junk washed out in the parts washer but noticed all this fell out when tapping it on the bench after drying out.

CTS: We might have a wait. Some of his film crew is of age chasing boys now, and the #1 helper would probably rather be skinning one of the CATs, than watching pops cruise back and forth for the camera. JM

Hi Side seat.  I can get you a close up of the precleaner.

The crud in the filter looked like long dried up oil, dirt and rust.

You’ll have good long wait I imagine.   At least till this fall.   Thanks to notill farming we really don’t have much for the Cats to do in the summer, other than pull some harrow around.  That’s sketchy too, one good spark from a gas cat and now you’ve got a harrow on fire dragging it around catching the rest of the stubble on fire ( dad used to do it on purpose).

Pre cleaner pictures for Side seat.

Also got a mag cover from a good friend.  I just need to strip that silly green paint off the mag.

a paint job and it will be complete. oil baths did work well if maintained properly. and they worked better once they were a little dirty but if not looked after they were a pain in the arse.
but so can a paper element be easily damaged and dust a engine much quicker.

So easy to tell the climate that machine lives in. We never see that type of weathering and ageing over this way. Ours are usually a deep ochre color : )
