Another “money pit” scraper project. Actually the one with the Budd style wheels from Washington state is my low budget unit. My local hydraulic shop turned some fittings down for me, allowing me to swap over to 3/4” lines if need be. I was amazed that they had 2 wire 3/4” available for the Anchor reusable clamp fittings. I have to admit, their service has been great.
The one with big rubber was the one gifted to me by the late Glen Ghilotti. He can be happy knowing that I finally had it painted!
Some of us will gather at Tulare to show off our D4s and 40 scrapers.
I’m still looking for ONE more 40 scraper for myself, and one of our fellow members needs/wants one as well.
Stay tuned. JM

JM Those are two good looking 40 scrapers. You know if you keep finding them and you run out of room I could keep one down here for you and shine the blade too!

Thanks everyone. Yes Jon-Mark, room has always been as issue here. You are always welcome to "borrow" one if needed. I have both little Murray's being prepped for paint this week.
Question of the day is what is the closest shade of yellow to paint them? Old Cat yellow is too dark, and not sure if "Federal Yellow" aka IH Industrial yellow is too dark as well.
Anyone out there ever repainted an implement built by Murray? One of the 4 yard Murray's is the original orange, that itself is another question whether go back to orange or update with yellow as well. Some of the toughest decisions besides where to go have lunch today! JM

I would paint the murray caterpillar yellow. One I have that is yellow the other one it’s so rusted out. It’s hard to tell but I think it was still orange. Never repainted. I can’t really help you about lunch. Hope you figure it out!

I'll wager that when JM arrives for lunch, the crowd shout "Norm!"

Skinner: was that the one from West Sacramento?
Waiting on color samples.
Neil: I’d have folks welcome you if you bought!
My brother had a watering hole that was similar to “Cheers”, except when I showed up, they said I couldn’t sit in his spot. Lunch was instant noodles. Saving my money for more iron.

Juiceman, the best source for the original orange that I had was from a 1972 VC520 chisel that was setup for tiliam application, while it was repainted yellow a time or 6.
When I removed the clamps on the frame was an original unweathered flat orange I’d say the closest shade was the old Ramacher Orange. Unfortunately most of that stuff went to scrap with the original paint.
