Our magazine editor has a request for all members who operated or had family members who operated Caterpillar machinery on active duty during World War II (yes, that’s a stretch, but you never know), the Korean War or Vietnam War to send their contact information with a couple of details of their service and whether or not they would have pictures they would like to supply for Issue 83 (January/February). I have a deadline coming up for internal proofing of November 21, so hopefully folks can rally the information up quickly.

We’re looking specifically for tales of what they did with the equipment and any special memories they have of their service time with Caterpillar Machinery. The more, the merrier.

You can e-mail a response to me and I will forward to Rolland Millington, the editor. gwhdiesel75[at]msn.com

Thanks for looking! GWH

George - I'll do a little "write-up" for the magazine, with regard to my service, operating Cats in Vietnam .. even though I have posted the info previously. The number of WW2 Vets is becoming alarmingly low .. I see the numbers falling away every Anzac Day parade .. and the ones left are becoming frail.

I would dearly love to try and catch up with some of the few remaining WW2 Vets, who were operators in the Australian Airfield Construction Sqdns, that built the airfields throughout Australia and the Pacific Islands during WW2 .. but I know my chances are getting slimmer every day.
There was a recent re-union of these Vets here locally, and I will try and track some down .. but it certainly won't be in time for your deadline for this issue.

Regards - Ron Nash.
