Cat 22 locked/broken steering brake?

More

I was operating my Cat 22 when it appears that the right steering brake, or something, became locked. Brake pedal moves in and out more or less properly. Does anybody have any ideas on what the cause might be? How can I trouble shoot the problem?

I am real new to this so any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

Pete

Thanks Bruce. And thanks for the diagram. Actually the problem is more serious than that. The track is locked. At first it felt like the brake was locked. I am hoping that it is just a track jammed on the lower idlers that I can't see and not an internal problem. When I get another pair of eyes to help me, I will see if the right sprocket attempts to turn until it takes up the slack of the track.

The brake band may have tightened up and is causing it to have the brake locked. Mine did the same thing. I finally got it to work loose. Good Luck!

Thanks to all who responded. I misdiagnosed the problem. It was a track jammed with the idlers somehow. I lowered the blade to raise the track and then used a crowbar to make sure that the track was free. It must have freed itself when the track came off of the ground because I didn't find any evidence of a jam. I have only had a crawler for two weeks. The learning curve is very steep!

Thanks again
