George,
I have been a member of acmoc over three years now but this is the first time Lee and you have come on the board in a discussion about models. The magazine reports decisions after they have been made and regarding your reference to members of the public being made privy to internal affairs, I hope you do not mean us the acmoc members in this category. Yes,I understand sometimes the need for secrecy but it seems to me and a lot of people in the club that theres too much secrecy at the top and there are also people in this club who have no interest in models so we need to carry everyone along so we all get the financial benefit of the models

Mind you when alls said and done I have noticed a more open attitude from the directors and I have noticed you have put in a lot of effort here on the board these past six months. I hope you take these comments as constructive and wish you guys all the best.

Neil I never realy thought that much of Model's, although I constantly bought the things from the CAT dealers in with a pile of parts, the models given to my son, untill one day I was working for a local Farm Contractor, he invited me in to his house for a spot of lunch, inside the house was his wheelchair bound son who was making a model Fordson tractor out of a high detail kit, the pleasure this lad had from making the model made me want to bow my head in shame, for not realizing the needs and desires of other people , the models obviously give great pleasure to lots of different people ,they also keep the ACMOC head above water , Models RULE.

The only models I have is a Cat tractor trailer that was used to haul David Green,s Nascar race car around in quite awhile ago & I also have an Oliver OC-3 crawler & a Farmall "A" tractor and that,s it.I also have a Cat license plate of Ward Burton,s Dodge race car that Cat sponsered a few years ago too.

Hey Gang, I would like to hear more about your model wants and interests. It would help us immensly as we continue to plan for future introductions. More tractors, wheel loaders, pipelayers, scrapers, graders? Any particular scale?

Martyn, You indicated that you would like to see some better models. Can you give me an example? Are you interested in the CCM type of models with very low production and high level of detail?

I also read your comment about Reuhl. I have mixed feelings about reproducing the old models. My concern is that the value of the originals usually declines when reproductions are issued.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Regards,
Lee

Lee here is my 2 cents. I like the detail of the Speccast and First Gear pieces. The CCM models are way out of my price range. I think some historical models in 1:50 scale are worth a second look. First Gear has done very well with their vintage IH line. A vintage 1:50 Cat line should be popular. This scale appeals to the Cat collectors and the 1:50 construction collectors.

I would like to see something like a late 1960s D7, D6 or D8 with a cab or a Cat 12 with a snowplow. I also think we are getting a lot more information from the BOD which is good. You guys are doing a good job!

MARTYN WILLIAMS, if and when you get your website up, please link it so us underprivledged ACMOC members can look at it. :D

George, asking what kind of models we want is akin to sitting on Santa's lap at the department store. As we got older, we knew he was just somebody's Dad who needed a few extra bucks, and asking him for the GI Joe with the Kung Fu Grip was probably a shot in the dark, but worth a try anyways. What model would we like to see? Hmm, go to any book that describes Holt/Caterpillar/Best and pick the line from the first to the last and I think we would all love to have at least one of each on our shelves. A hump back? Maybe a WW2 era D5? Whatabout a series of 933, 955, 977's? I would think you can expect everyone to post their preference for whatever they may have in the pole barn. Me? I just bought a 933, so I would love a model of that. I also would love a model of a D6. A Diesel 35, 40, 50? Yep. I could go on and on and on....;)
