I have a 5J D2 and need to remove the starter pinion. I removed the pony motor took the bolts out of the starter housing, but I can't seem to get the pinion all the way out it hits on the back of the injection pump. I don't see any special needed to do to get it out in the service manual. Does anybody ahve anything that I need to do to get it all the way out. It was leeking oil need to replace gasket.

you have to remove the fuel governor cover and engage the pinion startor, remove the bolt inspection cover from gig motor and removed the cover pinion cluch housing and you should have room for pull it out.
