Thank you very much for the info. At least I have some new numbers to work with and I hope that I can find one that will work.

Thanks again and I will keep you posted.

I have found a turbo #8M6823 which is off lf a 955D with a serial #60A4807. The serial # of the 955H is 60A4776. Does anyone know if the 8M6823 will work?

Thank You

60A's are all "H" models. I don't show a listing for a "D" model.
60A4807 and 60A4776 are the same 1962 production.
I'd say there is a pretty good chance it will fit but I'm missing a complete parts manual for the pre 60A5000 models to compare and can't prove it will fit. Maybe Cat or one of the Turbo supply houses can help you there.

That turbo is a rare one only fitting a few models, from 60A4790 to 60A4813 and it may fit yours and work well.

However, the parts book is telling us that's there's something different about it and is supposed to be used on those models only. It could be that the pistons or heads or fuel system may be different. It's hard to tell without a bunch of comparisons between it and the previous 8M0019 turbocharger engine configurations. If it was mine that I was working on, it could be worth that hard look though...just need lots of parts books or access to SIS in Cat online parts.

Hi d9gdon,
Did they make a 12A "D" model? I show a "C" and "E" model but no "D".

More numbers:
8M6823 is equavalent to 8M6819, 8M6821, 8M6822 and 8M6827

No, they didn't officially make a 955D. People think that if there was a "C" and "E" version then there had to be a "D" version. In my experience, wrecking yards are the worst offenders at inventing new series. The "C" used a D4 undercarriage and the "E" used the D6 undercarriage, changed at 12A5793 with some other more minor stuff. My 12A6341 is in that series. My local Cat dealer doesn't even recognize(differentiate) the "E" version in SIS.

It's like the first D10, which wasn't a D10L but many people still call them that.

I have one I will give you if you pay shipping. Ity was on ours but we changed it out for one on a better manifold and we just let it sit out. I don't think it is beyond repair or use. Free if you will pay the freight. 479-236-0552
