Since Sunny California is raining like hell right now, it will be a couple of days before I get to the ranch and take photos and measure. Grant.

I looked at my D2 5J Trackson and the overall length of the tracks is 97 in. and from rear center of axle/hub cap to center of front idler is 69 in. I had not noticed before but there is a bar across from rail to rail at about the area of the front idlers. I dont know if that was stock Trackson or added when they converted to a dozer blade. The tracks do not extend beyond the radiator, so I dont think they would interfere with any blade. I counted 34 pads, but it was muddy enough that I could have made a mistake. I still can not load my photos. Sorry.

I am in Northern calif, so mine probably would not work out for you.

A side note, the Trackson main engine oil dipstick is on the other side of the engine from my other J model D2s. No idea of why? Grant.

I went back and measured my D2 5U tailseat 5 roller bottom Cat. Overall length is 103 inches, center to center of the sprocket and front idler is 75 In. I counted 37 pads.

Overall the 5U machine is longer than the 5J Trackson.

I was incorrect about the tracks extending past the radiator. YES, they do. About 6 inches on each machine.

5J parts probably wont do you any good. I assume that finding the late model 5U parts will be difficult. Good Luck. Grant.

Thanks very much for getting back to me on this Grant. Yes, I doubt the five roller frame would fit inside my 2S blade frame. 5J / 3J didn't have extended track frames so they're not an option unfortunately. D4E got back to me with some options. I'm thinking to just send my frames in and get them glued back up since I have them, it's just welding, and then I can be on the road again. It'd be great to get the exact channel that Cat used on the frames but the local steel merchant couldn't find a direct match based on the dimensions I gave him. Some come close but the Cat channels have differen dimensions on each leg and a different thickness too. Ship channel is close but not a match. So, since this isn't a production machine : ), I'll just use what they have - it'll be close enough. I have 33 pads per side
