Hi, long time reader, first time poster. Here is my long shot.
My grandfather is a long time farmer and cat collector in the Central Valley of California, near Ripon. This summer we found a receipt from Holt Bros in Stockton showing his grandfather (my great, great grandfather) purchasing the Cat Twenty. He claims this is the one that got away, S/N 1796.
He says it was traded for a D2 4U in 1948. After that, possibly sold to a family named Boer in the Modesto, Ca area.
Anybody possibly have and info on where to look or know of any leads on this? I know it’s a long shot, just putting my feelers out there.
Thanks!

Skinner! Go look inside your museum and see if you have this gentleman's family heirloom. Hah! B2Farming, Jon-Mark aka Skinner is a good old Atwater, CA collector/hoarder/restoration expert...

Well, I looked at ours and we have 1795! It is located in South Dakota but came out of Montana.

My bet is the one that was in California had an L serial number prefix and the one that came out of Montana has a PL serial number prefix.

Consider asking your Cat dealer parts manager or a popular aftermarketf antique parts supplier if anyone has made purchases using this serial number. A long shot, but it may lead to something else.
Good luck.
