Hello,

Looking for the installation tool for a front crankshaft oil seal on a D7E 48A7916+. I have the new front crankshaft oil seal as well as the pulley removal tools but not the tool that re-installs the oil seal back own the crankshaft.  The D7E 48A parts book, operators book, and service manuals detail the pulley and front engine support removal but not which tool is required to reinstall the crankshaft oil seal.  There is no wear sleeve just an oil seal.  I have considered making a tool but I'm concerned that a specific seal seating depth may be required.  Any advice or help would be most appreciated.

Dozer: D7E S/N 48A7916+
Engine: D339T
Front Crankshaft Seal P/N: 2S1509
Crankshaft P/N: 4S7416
Pulley P/N: 4S6837

Go to home depot and match the outside diameter to a black pvc coupler. Somewhere around 3” is what i think we used.

Nicky,

Thank you, I really appreciate your help. I have been trying to find something that would fit. This 2S1509 seal is 3.6 ID and 4.6 OD. A 4" schedule 80 PVC pipe is 3.8" ID and 4.5" OD which seems to cover the solid part of the seal that would be pressed on. As for seating depth, I am planing to measure the depth of the old seal before I removed it and try to match that depth when I press the new one on. After recently replacing the tracks, tensioning mechs, several rollers, the turbo, exhaust, radiator, air cleaner, all wiring and gauges, as well numerous other repairs, this felt most challenging as I've never done it and didn't want to damage the seal putting it on. Again, I appreciate your advice and happy to hear any additional thoughts.

All the best, Ron
