Chapter Nineteen
Former dealer mechanic Garry Cotton may not get around as much these days with his health deteriorating, but in his own words, when the chance to purchase a 212 slowly dying in a local quarry came up for $500 - "the money literally caught fire coming out his pocket so quickly"! Garry couldn't do the work himself, but friends Eddie Bedwell and John McQueen along with his brother Allan all chipped in get the No. 212 95C15 back up and running again. Believed to be an Australian built 1958 model this puts it as one of the very early Caterpillar of Australia (CofA) built graders. Current Cat motor grader Product Application Specialist, Darren Hodge, former CofA service trainer and ACMOC member Richard Honess and local dealer William Adams Product Manager Glen Slocombe and Operator Trainer John Merlo were all on hand to celebrate the 212's first outing. Congratulations Garry and team for this outstanding save.

It was great to see so many members and visitors at the Lake Goldsmith Rally and general meeting, the first since Nov 2019! We also had some debutant tractors with Jackel's 5T D4 Traxcavator, Johansen's 2F Twenty Two & Marshall's 8G No:11. Lake Goldsmith is unique its approach to permitting live working displays and the ability for junior members (and their dogs) to participate, which is something the Chapter wish to continue to support and foster. Club President Neil Clydsdale was able to congratulate Eddie Bedwell in person for his ACMOC member of year award. Check out the photo's and looking forward to the next one!
Brendan and Sue Cornfoot hosted the committee for a meeting on 7th February. Full details and minutes are available for you to download, simply click on the 'MEETING MINUTES' tab on our landing page. WOW, what a great meeting venue and the ultimate mancave! We were treated to Sue's homemade pizza's from their own inbuilt oven and got a chance to appreciate Brendan's collection of both scale model and full size tractors, including a couple of mini tractor pull tractors that were inside. Hopefully we can convince them to host a general meeting in the future.
